Description
The K. J. Somaiya Institute of Applied Agricultural Research functioning since three decades has contributed immensely towards the overall rural development of the region. The mandate of KIAAR is to generate sugarcane technology, screening and developing varieties, associated agro-techniques, etc. The technology transfer is done by the Cane Development Department (CDD). The main aim of KIAAR is to release new varieties and to
improve sugar and sugarcane production with minimum aberrance in the ecosystem. We are recognized by ICAR, CSIR, DBT etc., and there are postgraduate students working in collaboration with UAS, Dharwad.

3. Bioenergy Plantation.
4. High Sugarcane Production Technology.
5. Low Cost Drip Irrigation.
6. AICRP on Sugarcane and Sorghum.
7. Recharge of Borewells.
8. Fuel Canes.
9. Liquid Biofuels: Ethanol and biodiesel.
10. Vermicomposting.
