CRYCOL (Colchicine tablets 0.5 / 1mg)
CRYCOL (Colchicine Tablets) is an oral anti-inflammatory medication containing the active ingredient Colchicine. It is available in 0.5 mg and 1 mg doses. Colchicine is a toxic product extracted from plants of the genus Colchicum. It is used to treat attacks of gouts and other medical conditions such as Amyloidosis, Behçet's syndrome, Cirrhosis of the liver, Pericarditis, Sarcoid arthritis, etc. Gout occurs when the level of uric acid in the blood increases followed by inflammation in a joint due to pain, redness, swelling, and heat.
CRYCOL (Colchicine Tablets) acts by reduction in crystallization of uric acid leading to a reduction in the inflammatory response.Its overdosage is associated with gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, neuromuscular, and cerebral toxicity, bone marrow damage and high mortality.
Recommended dose: The usual dose to relieve from an attack is 1 to 1.2 mg of Colchicine tablets.
For Acute Gouty Arthritis : Two tablets of Colchicine 0.5 / 1 mg initially followed by one tablet every hour until pain is relieved.
For Prophylaxis Against Attacks of Gout in Patients Undergoing Surgery : One tablet to be taken three times daily. It should be administered three days before and three days after surgery.
